The Council of Europe is often confused with two EU Institutions called European Council and Council of the European Union. The Council of Europe is NOT part of the EU.
The Council of Europe's members are all of the UE countries plus many more, up to a total of 46, including Turkey, Serbia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Russia used to be a member, but left the organization shortly after invading Ukraine, on March 22, 2022.
The United Kingdom has left the EU but it has not left The Council of Europe, being one of the founders in 1949.

The activities of the Council of Europe are basically - but not only, look left - focused on Human Rights.
The most famous of its institutions is the European Court of Human Rights,

European Convention on Human Rights.
