What is the World Trade Organisation?
The World Trade Organisation (WTO for short) is an interational organisation that has the aim to ease trading between countries. It is host to negotiations to ensure open markets for trade, but it also helps maintaining barriers to protect consumers or prevent the spread of deseases. It ensures that the members, the companies and the governments know the rules and laws of the other countries, it ensures no sudden changes of its policy. It tries to avoid problems with legal procedures and by being as neutral as possible
Who are the members of the WTO?The World Trade Organisation is formed by 164 members of the participanting countries’ Governments and by a number of delegates.

When and where do the members meet?The 164 members meet once every two years and the delegates meet regularly in Geneva, in Switzerland.
